The statement “No Throne Without The Cross” should be the theme for every marriage. Let us take the life of Jesus as an example. The Bible says in Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
[2] looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
\why did Jesus endure the cross? He endured because there was a joy that was set before Him. He looked beyond His current circumstances and focused on the Joy that awaited Him. If Jesus had focused on the suffering, the pain, the shame, being nailed to the cross, He probably would have changed His mind. To tell you how heavy the suffering was, He asked the Father if the cup could pass over Him but then submitted to the will of the Father.
Now, I know you are probably going through a rough time in your marriage, but my question to you is, do you have a joy set before you? In the midst of the chaos, do you see joy coming? Are your eyes and mind fixed on a pleasant future? If the answer is no, then it will be very hard to endure.
For every good and thriving marriage you see, they are the ones who successfully went to the cross and are now enthroned. What most people want is to be enthroned from the first day of marriage and it does not work like that. If there are no challenges, then there will be no growth. You grow, everytime you successfully overcome a hard time.
There is almost a certainty that you will have a “cross” season in your marriage. It could be financial, in-laws, breaking habits, lack of understanding etc. Overcoming this cross is what qualifies you for enthronement.
Therefore, this is an encouragement for you not to quit in your “cross” season. Do not be dismayed, fight through the cross and then you will be enthroned. Ensure there is a joy set before you. What has God shown you about your home? Set that image on the tablet of your heart always and focus on it. That joy definitely awaits you. Every positive imagination you have of your marriage will be established. It will become your reality soon so please do not give up.
