It is testimony time. Someone is testifying about a huge breakthrough and all they can say is “God did it! God brought me here! But you are angry that they are not sharing the real story of how they rose to success? If you have ever felt this way, read this carefully.
Everyone has a unique blueprint for success in the house of God even if they are in the same business or career.
This is because God does not only give you good success, He also makes you good. He works on your character and your being to ensure that the success coming will not drown you. Therefore, to succeed, you must submit to His rigorous training.
Let me explain better with an example. Someone who wants to start a fashion business is struggling with lust and another person who wants to start the same fashion business is struggling with greediness. Now, their journeys to success will be very different because they have different struggles and will then have a different training syllabus.
These trainings will require consecration which are unique to the individuals and their specific situations. If these individuals yield to be pruned and developed under the government of God, then they will eventually come to a place of total dependence on God and will follow the principles of the kingdom.
Their rise to fame or success story will not now be about the business model anymore but mostly about their Spiritual journey that has brought them to their current status. Therefore, even though these two individuals in the example are in the same career or business, they will have different success stories. If they tell you only about their professional development, they will be doing you great injustice.
So the next time a Christian is asked how they rose to success, and they say “It’s God who brought me here” or “By the grace of God, I am what I am”, please understand that they are telling you the truth and not merely trying to be “humble”.
If you try to follow only their professional pathway to success, you may fail because there is a solid foundation that holds up the professional expertise. It is not only because they know how to stay disciplined, rise from sleep early or self motivate; it is because they have gone through pruning and the values you see today are hinged on the help of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, for you to also succeed in your chosen field, you must submit to be governed by God. The kind of success God gives is called “Good success” and that is the success that has life in it. You must attain the level of goodness to receive and retain it.

This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
