First of all, out of the blues, king Nebuchadnezzar decided to build a statue of himself and instructed that all peoples, nations and speakers of every language should bow down and worship his statue when they hear the sound of the music.
Does it sound familiar? Have you heard of strange policies that just come up from the world leaders of today, trying to force everyone to obey and accept them? Do you act indifferent or do you stand by your belief? You better choose a side! You cannot sit on the fence. You are either for or against it.
Let’s not talk about the significance of the music that leads to the worship of a strange god today, otherwise it will become an epistle.
So then, our brothers decided to stand firm on their belief against all odds, being fully aware of the consequences. Some things to take note of. Firstly, they were thrown into the fire with their hands and feet bound. Secondly, in verse 25, the Bible says they were walking around and were not hurt.
25, “ He answered, “Look! I see four men untied, walking around in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt! And the appearance of the fourth is like the Son of God.
My question is “Where were they?” Would you believe it if I told you that they were not in the fire? Look at verse 27.
27, And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, on whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
There were witnesses who attested to the fact that their hair was not singed, their clothes were not scorched or damaged , even the smell of smoke was not on them.
Where then were the Hebrew boys if they were not in the fire?
They were in the presence of GOD! In the midst of the fire, they found the presence and a portal opened up to them in such a way that the effects of the fire was not seen on them. They had ascended into a higher realm. .
Psalm 91: 1 “ He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
You thought they were burning, but they were abiding.
Have you seen people who go through a very hard time but do not look like their situation? Even though the fire is real, they find comfort and help in the presence of GOD.
How do I abide? You must trust in GOD! You cannot stop the evil in the world but you can abide in Him. Always find His presence, look beyond the fire always and find His presence.
By the time they were coming out of the fire, they were no longer bound! They came out free. the only things the fire consumed were the ropes that had been used to tie them down. And then the king announced them by the name of their God as they came out of the fire,
Daniel 3:26
Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spoke, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the most high God, come forth, and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the middle of the fire.
They walked out victoriously, with great fame, confidence and went straight from the fire to the presence of the king. Promotion followed as well.
